“Truthfully, I don’t think there’s much of an LGBTQ+ community in Hammonton, but it’s growing,” said Max Rodio, president and founder of Hammonton Pride. “With Hammonton, we kind of have to take baby steps. So I do think eventually we can get there. But right now, you know, we’re just building little by little to get to that point. We definitely do have many supporters in local government and in Main Street, but it’s a process.”
Maximilian Rodio sees drag queens as “superheroes.”
“They use makeup and garments as armor,” Rodio, president of Hammonton Pride, told NJ Advance Media. “They are out there for political and social reasons. They are there to protect the community.”
